Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, H.E. Mrs. Yang Xiaorong, met with the Daughter of Adolphe Franck via Video Meeting

On September 13, 2021, the Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, H.E. Mrs. Yang Xiaorong, met with Françoise Franck, the daughter of Adolphe Franck, a well-known Luxembourgish friend of China, via video meeting. The meeting was organised with assistance from CHINALUX Vice President, Jacques Bortuzzo, and Kim Welter, a friend of CHINALUX, who was present at Bank of China in Luxembourg at the time of its opening in 1979.

Adolphe Franck first went to China in 1952, after which he came to know and love China. Adolphe Franck introduced China a mechanism for the steam locomotive to use less water, which was used for the construction of railways throughout the country. In recognition of his friendship and contributions to China, he was honored with a personal visit by Chairman Mao in 1972.

Adolphe Franck visited China 58 times and made significant contributions to promote political, economic and people-to-people exchanges between Luxembourg and China. He was the first foreigner to be given the title “Friendship Ambassador” in China.

During the video meeting, H.E. Mrs. Yang Xiaorong extended cordial greetings and best wishes to Françoise Franck. Although her father has passed away, the Chinese people have never forgotten his positive contributions to promoting the development of China-Luxembourg relations.
